#minimeltdowns

Hello everyone, it’s been a little while but I’ve been back at work and it’s full on (more about that in my next blog).

It’s struck me that our mums’ WhatsApp chat is full of one thing at the moment…. illness. Hand, foot and mouth, chest infections, colds, vomiting bugs, you name it…. and that’s just the dads 😉 It’s that time of year and bugs are flying around left, right and centre.

Seriously though, I find it extremely hard when wee one is poorly. Never quite knowing which signs mean that you need to call the GP or 111 (the 38.1 degree question), the difficulties sleeping and the constant trial by error of what food your little one is not going to refuse this time. I find it even harder when I am also ill (and don’t even get me started on when DH is down as well!).

For me it’s the single hardest thing, being extremely unwell and having to look after a little babe. Dragging yourself up in the morning, knowing that you need to be resting in bed. It’s quite hard to keep yourself upbeat and motivated with all of this going on but look to friends and family for help. My mum, friends and I sometimes take it in turns to sit with the little ones whilst we go back to bed for an hour. Get the MIL involved if they’re close by – they can spend as much time spoiling little one as they like 😉  – you need to rest.
