Deborah qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2000 . During her NHS career, she gained a wealth of experience in key areas of orthopaedics, outpatients, women’s health, rheumatology, and respiratory specialities . In addition, she has worked in the NHS as a research physiotherapist within the mental health service.
Within Physiotherapy, Deborah has a special interest in Women’s health: Pregnancy & Post natal ,Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP) and pelvic floor related conditions. Deborah is an active member of the Pelvic Partnership – a charity supporting people who experience PGP and their families. Pelvic rehab, pelvic pain, pelvic floor rehab , incontinence, exercise in pregnancy and return to exercise post – natal are of her many specialities.
She treats a person holistically: in addition and to complement the above – dealing with breathing disorders, musculoskeletal & sports injuries, post surgery, soft tissue and exercise rehab .
Deborah uses acupuncture treatment, has gained further qualifications via the AACP into Acupuncture for Pregnancy, Post natal and Women’s Health, in addition to a variety of soft tissue and manual therapy techniques, to be able to offer the best treatment combinations. To add to this skill set, in 2014 Deborah took the MBCT (Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy) course and uses principles of mind & body training in her practice.
In 2004, Deborah qualified as a Pilates instructor with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI), and has been teaching Pilates classes and 1:1 sessions since. In 2007 Deborah took a position as a lecturer on the APPI courses, both in the UK and internationally, training allied health professionals to the high standards of the APPI.
Deborah teaches Pilates classes In Kenilworth several times a week.
Empowering people to gain knowledge about the body and how it works, how to help themselves and when to seek help has led Deborah to develop a public speaking and workshop programme – she delivers training to the public and in the work-place on topics such as back care, pelvic floor masterclasses and menopause awareness & management.
Deborah is a member of the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC – PH62671), and Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP – 68413), the AACP,The Pelvic Partnership, and ‘pudendal hope’ .
