Andrea – Antenatal Educator

andrea mcfadden antenatal educatorAndrea joins our team with a wealth of experience as a highly trained nurse, midwife and birth educator. Her skills are gathered from experiencing a huge diversity in cultures, approaches to pregnancy and childbirth from working both here and overseas.

Andrea completed her general nurse training in the UK in 1985 and after several years in a variety of clinical areas then moved overseas to spend nearly 10 years in Australia. It was here that she extended her nursing expertise including qualifying as a registered midwife. These skills saw her spending her final years abroad working in the prestigious position as a Flight Nurse Specialist with the WA branch of Royal Flying Doctors service in Australia.

Returning to the UK in 1999, she obtained her Diploma in Antenatal Education and has since taught a variety of antenatal courses for both the NHS and private sector. Ongoing professional development since graduating, which enhances her teaching, includes studying yoga for pregnancy and hypnobirthing.

Although no longer practising as a midwife she regularly utilises her skills as a farmer’s wife assisting her two sows, Penelope and Elva, to farrow!
