Sam is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the British Psychological Society (BPS). Over the last eleven years, she has worked in many different psychological teams, both within the NHS and in charitable organisations. Sam has extensive experience working in NHS mental health services with a wide range of difficulties and presentations.
In the NHS Sam has worked in Community Perinatal Mental Health, supporting mums and babies when significant emotional challenges arise. Her independent practice echoes this specialism. Sam is committed to supporting parents to explore difficult and significant thoughts and feelings that may arise during pregnancy and the postnatal period.
Sam fully understands that becoming a parent is a huge life event and is emotionally and physically challenging in so many ways. Conceiving a baby in mind and body, carrying a baby, delivering a baby and caring for a baby is not easy. Indeed, as with any significant transition, a wealth of different feelings can be stirred up. She feels that therapeutic work to support parents and babies offers a unique, deeply exciting and privileged opportunity to support such a significant relationship within such a critical and sensitive period of time which is exciting.
We are thrilled that Sam has joined our team to extend the support we offer local expectant and new families.
